DOS HEMISFERIOS, a thirteen year old winery from Ecuador, succeeded in making great, elegant wines, with a unique and new array of flavors and aromas from grapevines without leaf fall or winter dormancy, in a place with only two (dry and rainy) seasons, harvesting two times a year.
Wishes were dreamt, and two farm owners wanted their own wine. Thirteen years later those incredible wines are flying out to the world, no more dreams, no more wishes, it all became a reality.
Sunny, warm days, mild nights, chalky soils, an everlasting sea breeze, good, proudly people who patiently take care of the vines and wine, elaborated in an artisanal way at the beginning through the best automatic machinery today.
Exotic wines with fruits and flowers given by the Pacific Ocean influence, spices in oak aged wines, good structure-acidity rapport that makes them fresh, mineral taste in the chardonnay and sauvignon, with a long and pleasant finish in the mouth.
The brand, “Dos Hemisferios” names the place where the wine is born, Ecuador, where the two hemispheres meet, as well as the wine’s names, Paradoja (the paradox of making wines in Ecuador), Enigma (denotes the mystery of how the first white wine came to be), Travesia (the journey they’ve been through, even if they still have a long way to go), Bruma (from the misty dawn days), Del Morro, (honoring the town of the hard working people who made It possible).
The unique two harvests a year (June and December) makes it possible to have two wine elaborations in the same year.
DOS HEMISFERIOS wines have received many national and international awards, which are just the first step to present Ecuador as a country with a new and innovative wine production.
2009: Enigma, Gold Medal at the IX Vinandino Wine Contest in Mendoza, Argentina. This is the most important wine contest in Latin America, which involves more than 800 wine samples from around the world.
2011: Travesia, Grand Gold Medal at Gala del Vino (Wine Gala) in Quito, Ecuador.
2015: Paradoja, Commended Winner at the IWC (International Wine Challenge) in London.
2016: Travesia Merlot, Double Gold Medal at the CWSA (China Wine & Spirits Awards); Enigma Gold Medal and Paradoja Silver Medal.
2017: Enigma, Silver Medal at Challenge International du Vin in France.
